Simon Levy received that exact punishment at the Old Bailey. The 40-year-old from north London was handed a whole-life tariff for murdering two women and raping a third. In early 2025, Levy launched a series of brutal attacks targeting vulnerable women in north London.
- January 2025: He brutally raped, beat, and suffocated a 35-year-old woman in a Tottenham car park. Miraculously, she survived.
- March 2025: He murdered 53-year-old Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo in a partly disused tower block.
- August 2025: He killed 39-year-old Sheryl Wilkins.
Police even investigated Levy as a suspect for the first murder while he was out on bail. They claimed they lacked sufficient evidence to charge him. That inaction gave him the window to strike again.

Transparency from the judicial system is rare, but the aftermath of this trial brought startling admissions. The Metropolitan Police, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), and British Transport Police all confessed to making major errors.
British Transport Police arrested Levy for sexually assaulting women on trains prior to the murders. Yet, administrative bungling delayed charging him. While walking around on bail for those transit offenses, he carried out ten more attacks across London.
Prosecutors also failed to push hard enough to keep him remanded in custody. Across three separate court hearings, they neglected to present vital evidence showing the true scale of the threat Levy posed. London Mayor Sadiq Khan openly admitted that multiple agencies missed clear chances to stop him.
The Human Cost Behind the Headlines
Behind every legal technicality are real lives torn apart. The victims—Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, Sheryl Wilkins, and the surviving woman who testified with immense courage—were treated as disposable by their attacker.
Sheryl Wilkins' mother, Mary, delivered a searing victim impact statement at the sentencing. She stated plainly that Levy is a persistent threat to all women and should never walk free. The survivor of the January attack described how the assault stripped away her dignity, labeling her attacker a parasite.
Recorder of London Mark Lucraft KC noted during sentencing that Levy possessed a morbid fascination with sex, rape, and crime. With his whole-life order locked in, Levy joins a tiny fraction of inmates—fewer than 80 nationwide before this ruling—who will die inside a prison cell.
Locking up a monster solves nothing if the system keeps manufacturing the conditions for monsters to hunt. Accountability must start long before the judge puts on the black cap.
