A sightseeing flight meant to showcase the ancient Nazca Lines turned into a complete catastrophe when a Cessna Caravan C-208 crashed into a field in Pueblo Viejo. All 13 people on board died. That total includes eleven European tourists—seven from Italy, two from Spain, and two from Germany—along with the Peruvian pilot, Américo Salazar, and co-pilot, Irenka Guanilo del Carpio.
Operated by local carrier Aerodiana, the aircraft took off from Pisco Airport around 12:10 p.m. Less than an hour later, the crew radioed an emergency alert to the control tower before all signals vanished. By the time ground teams reached the site roughly four miles from Nazca, the wreckage was fully engulfed, leaving no survivors.
